I think rust has its merits, don't get me wrong. I just think it has a large cargo cult following of inexperienced script kids who have never used it for anything other than pretending to know what they're taking about.

Rust has been around for more than a decade now and is still very niche. Evidently, it isn't a good enough argument.

Rust is the language that everyone loves to talk about but no one really uses.

What are your thoughts on Rust?

Wow the Rust hype is really an echo chamber right now. Seems very academic and nobody really seems to be using it in production..

Mostly because of adoption. Rust is great, but I'm not really into it (subjectively).

OK, I'm not into Rust. It just seems a bit too complicated :-)

I don't understand all those rust hypes here. What indeed does rust bring to the table?

What do you think of Rust?

Rust is everywhere. It's a great language.

Absolutely. For clarification, I've tried and liked Rust and would probably use it on the right project. I still feel like there's some hype around it though.

Have you given Rust an honest try yet? I thought it was a hype train too at one point, but I started using it, realized that the hype is well founded and never looked back.

Agreed. Rust is a far more reasonable/obvious choice.

I'm curious about Rust but haven't tried it enough yet to form an opinion.

Lets put it this way. Rust is great and all for somebody who is willing to invest in it but there are simply other "mature" alternatives that are just as good.

I think that's a good indication that the reason Rust has become relatively popular is more likely to be its status as the new cool thing rather than anyone actually caring about safety and correctness.

I mean I'd personally rate the opinion of people who actually use Rust higher than people who don't.

Rust isn't a silver bullet but it does shift the balance materially.

Rust really impresses me because the community and the ecosystem, but I've not looked at it too much.

I don't think Rust's usage is large enough to fit into that category although it is growing and its followers are very devoted.

Well, that's only because Rust is better known.
