That looks surprisingly consistent to my eye.

Any data on how other similar sites (e.g., reddit) have changed?

sort by: page size:

Amazon looks essentially the same. In fact, about a year or two ago it looked almost exactly the same.

This feels interesting. I wonder why that is ...

It's quite similar to * a lot * of other sites.

for me just now ... 'www' and 'new' are apparently identical

ad neither seems notably different from how it's looked for years

The design of that site is shockingly similar to this one...

Exactly. The website being unchanged is definitely a feature.

I wonder if I copied this website style at some point. Mines identical.

My only complaint is that these sites all look the same.

It's the same site.

With only a few exceptions. It's the same site.

The one site that stood out the most is excite.com

It's interesting to see that amazon's current site still looks similar to its launch version.

I agree, however they did also run an experiment manipulating the same site (keeping design and layout equal and changing contrast levels). You can see two screenshots on page 616

I wouldn't say it's completely different. It certainly is positioned in a completely different way but one can still log in and view their old pages and content.

In fact design-wise, the React-powered site is identical to the previous one.

I'm impressed there's still some things in common between 2002 Amazon and 2024 Amazon. Obviously the whole structure of the site has changed, but the colors still seem relatively similar, as does the sort of "cluttered but still organized" look.

Strikingly similar, but so are most websites anyway.

The layout in the screenshot looks pretty similar to what's already there... just the header branding and a few fonts are different.

Ironically, the vast majority of the sites look exactly the same (just like mobile and desktop apps - although these tend to have visual guidelines to stick to)...

Quite similar to changemakrs.com in layout and intention. I like it.

Well, it seems we are on exactly the same page, just living in slightly different filter bubbles.

To V's author credit, he went ahead and updated the website. Let's see if the thing gets traction in the future. It has quite ambitious goals and I remain cautiously skeptical.
