Jesus christ, they are in the business of selling computers. This faux outrage over a salesman trying to sell his computers is gross - what's wrong with people?

Now watch as every blog tries to scramble to see who has the most outrage and who is the largest victim.

Outrage sells.

Outrage sells.

People just like to feel outraged, apparently.

Particularly internet outrage.

Sounds like a lot of misplaced "outrage" about nothing. You've done nothing wrong, don't let yourself feel like you did.

The internet is a weird place like this, where mobs can assemble in hours and stick you on their pitchforks for an imagined slight before you know what's going on. That's just the way it works, unfortunately, and the tech crowds are no exception.

To those who actually appreciate what these guys are doing: now would be a good time to pipe up and show that you support them and are not represented by the vocal minority who's currently getting all the spotlight!

People like to be outraged with petty things these days.

Is there a term to describe the outrage that we seem to be sharing towards the snake oil salesmen?

> The internet is addicted to outrage.

FTFY

I'm trying very hard to share your outrage... I am trying... but it really seems most of these are you being annoyed that you annoyed someone.

I think some people want to be outraged.

I see the outrage posts as a kind of meta-study on human nature. Like, "oh, that's what attracts people's attention these days, noted, next.." type thing.

^ draws so much attention

Outrage, I would say.

I like this article about internet outrage being bad that seems to exist solely to use that conceit to try to drum up internet outrage

Everybody loves to get outraged over every little thing nowadays.

Outrageous company does something outrageous. The people respond in outrage.

Outrage gets clicks

EDIT: responding to pre-edit of parent

This is in the category of "outrage outrage", where we are outraged that other people are getting outraged about things.

People like to be outraged and outrage generation makes for good clickbait.

The only reason I’m interacting on this post is because I feel a mild sort of outrage about the author’s mild outrage. And I feel like a bit of a sucker because of that.

I understand outrage, but I think it’s misdirected in this occasion. It’s an 8 year old product, that because of the price, age and small niche like had customers that you can count in hundreds.
