We wish for death. (This is identical to wanting to be God.)

sort by: page size:

It is necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live. ;)

The last thing you want to do is to die.

We all have to die someday. Might as well die for something.

The objective of life is dying.

That's a pretty grim statement. You want everyone to die? Would you mind unpacking this a bit?

I'd like this material existence I am currently experiencing to have no end (i.e., I hope I never die), so this comes as a shock. I can understand not wanting yourself to live forever, but wanting everyone to die?

The problem is that we don’t want to die. That instinct can be ruthless, even when it doesn’t make sense.

If I must die, I hope to die as an integer as well.

Do you want to die?

Of course we will want to. I am sure there will be lots of side effects, but almost anything beats dying.

I hope when I'm close to death that I think this way too.

We all have to die of something.

More than I want to die, I want not to be a part of the omnicidal stupidity that seems to define humanity.

I really do want not to die, and I see a viable path forward with that as a result.

An illegal and seasonal path.

I last took a dose in July, and those malignant fucking thoughts are returning.

And nurses keep telling me that psilocybin clearly has not worked (all the while advocating a pill a day, pill a day, pill a day).

If you see a drowning man take a gasp of air, and the keep right on drowning that does not mean that the air did not work.

The system is fucked - but try not to let it eat you.

That sounds nice and tidy in the abstract. Make it more concrete: do you, personally, want to die to fulfill some perceived evolutionary imperative? If so, feel free. I don't, ever.

We're going to die.

Yes but none of us want to die.

I think you overestimate how common common sense is

And it's not a death wish. I think a lot of us realise that we probably don't offer a net positive to this earth, that our individual existence probably uses more resource than it provides. So technically that means that the earth would be better off without us, but that's not a death wish. We're not saying we're actively going to kill ourselves

Fine. Those who want to die, be my guest. Those of us who want to live forever, we'd like the option anyway, please.

Why do we have to die?

So... a very store desire to live (so that you don't hurt the ones you love).

They prefer to die instead?
