No, "Ops" is legacy siloing of departments and by extension, tasks. Imagine driving a car, but it takes one person to do the steering and another person to do throttling. Seems pretty dumb, doesn't it?

To rephrase the article: everyone should and can go ops-less, you just need the devs to take over the ops roles.

Actually in most places I've seen 'ops' just turned into 'SRE'

We're a very small team so yeah I end up doing ops. I'd be nice to have a dedicated ops team but we're really far from that (and thankfully our setup has been pretty stable recently).
