Probably he indeed started doing this for fun but eventually did the "pivot" :-).

I think he was just having a bit of fun :-)

That's what he was doing.

From the video it seems like he found a suitable pivot for them, that's about it, the rest are assumptions.

My guess is this was small change for him and he enjoyed the adventure somehow.

He did it and learned. That is my guess.

I believe that was what he did

I think that was his initial idea, but he kept going when he found stuff. From later in the article: "This was a bigger job than I had anticipated, and after a few weeks [...]".

More like after he got caught, he felt the need to spin.

Fun story, but I'm gonna guess that the things he thought he learned on that job, he already had inside him. It was the first time he got to really apply his natural drive.

Maybe he was feeling energized :)

I guess his colleague found an excuse to for once do what he always wanted to.

Maybe, he wanted to show that he is actually human!

Interesting! Sounds like he was practicing what we call 'fail fast'

He was bluffing. ;)

What he was doing there?

I guess he looked for key-up events.

Where did he do that? Genuine question.

I would assume he rented a PO Box near his work, so he can do the same trick in the opposite direction.

He did. It's what the linked post describes.
