I've found that there are very few "remote-working" companies in the United States who consider applicants from outside of the US - most of them have an "must be eligible to work in the US" disclaimer.
The large majority of remote jobs I've seen on LinkedIn and other job boards, or applied to, are U.S.-only, sometimes restricted to particular states. Companies using the transition to remote to expand worldwide must be advertising elsewhere and are not really an issue for me.
Lots of companies accept remote workers, but not foreign remote workers.
One of my particular pet peeves with StackOverflow's jobs board is the endless parade of remote work with "NO NON-US CITIZENS" at the bottom of the job description.
You really aren't, if you are from US most companies that are advertising remote positions really want you to be located in US, I've been looking for remote work and I don't really believe that its possible to get a US job as a foreigner.
How is the international remote scene? Does it exist in big (top paying?) companies in the US? To clarify, can people outside the US be hired to do remote work for US companies?
Edit to add: While the position is remote, work eligibility in the US is a requirement. I can't speak to the specifics, but there are certain visas and situations we can work with.
Where do you even find these remote US jobs, they are either some big US companies that have local offices or US startups that don't take non-US people?
