I really appreciate you taking a look as well as providing your feedback.

Regarding the design, I just wanted to get something out the door quickly with a suitable look out of the box, so I decided to use MaterializeCSS (http://materializecss.com/). It's getting the job done so far, but I may revisit the design after I get all the content up.

And I'll look into poppler. Thank you for the recommendation.

Really like this idea, it's a really nifty concept. On the design side of things I'm on the fence, I like the logo and serif font at the top, though I'm still unsure about the monospace caption, it's possible the entire header would look better in a monospace font, worth exploring.

From the design of the header, the buttons and heavy gradient don't really work for me, you start out very crisp and clean, but quickly clutter with excessive gradients and rollovers, and the central page layout feels very 'cramped' as well, possibly playing with the spacing between objects and the contrasts would help.

Honestly I think your design would greatly improve with a more liberal use of whitespace, possibly no borders for the content, no boxing things in? and I'm not sold on the rounded navigation either, but this is possibly just due to the images not really jiving with me.

Here's an example: http://thismat.com/images/goalbot.png

Obviously this all subjective to taste, but I thought I'd throw it in as food for thought...you might not even be ready to tweak on the design yet.

Thanks for your feedback as well! I definitely don't have a graphic design background, so maybe I'll look on themeforest at some point. I just want to keep the site as lightweight as possible though, in case iPhone users visit it.

Thanks for all the great resources. I will admit that design is not my strong point, but the backend and features are all there, that it's pretty easy to revamp the entire design. I'm going to look into twitter bootstrap and maybe paying for a theme or even finding a designer.

Also, I may very well send you can e-mail later on. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the comments bdr. I designed the entire page, but as you may have noticed, I've never designed a website before, all my previous design experience has been in posters and print material. Could you elaborate on your suggestions? For instance, we didn't spend a terribly long time coming up with the logo, and if now that you brought it up, I'd rather like a more compact version. Do you think eliminating the text would help?

Regarding the UI clutteri-ness, are you referring to the flash interface or the webpage surrounding it?

Thanks for your feedback, appreciate the advice.

Design may not be my forte, lol! However, I plan to make improvements to the website and documentation over the weekend.

First, though, I need to ascertain whether it's something people would be interested in using.

Hi Cris! Thank you for your feedback. The design is just something i imagined would be cool and also friendly to users. ¿What do you recommend i do in terms of design?

Ironically, I think you might want to consider hiring a designer.

The A-number-one thing I notice about it is that it's one of those nice designs that looks like every other startup's templated nice design. My eyes flit around the first page looking for a place to land; the logo and the slogan next to it go unnoticed for a bit. The icons next to each item do not add anything at all to what you're trying to say. About the second thing I notice is the Gmail-like interface; since I'm curious about it, I click through the slides, but none of them are really blowing me away.

To me, there's no ... "pop". Nothing about it blows my hair back.

The bottom text boxes get clipped on my 17" widescreen display. Not sure if that was intentional or not.

Also, what's your target audience here? If it's other startups, then an iteration on this design might work well. If it's enterprise ... then I don't think you're going to get their attention with anything like this design.

It's an interesting idea though! ...I think?

I appreciate the feedback! The page is definitely lacking in a lot of areas, so receiving unbiased feedback makes things a lot easier to prioritize. Again, I appreciate you sharing some insight. I’m currently making improvements and trying to spruce it up with my limited (non-existent) design skills :)

Thats great feedback! Thanks.

I will experiment with how to better describe how to use the site on the homepage and make it a little more obvious how to customise a design once you have chosen a design.

Thanks for the feedback. I just threw something up in a few minutes. I'll try to get something better looking up tonight with the caveat that I'm not a designer. Maybe I can get some of my co-workers to design an awesome looking splash page for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

I agree on the design: none of us is a graphic designer, so that's on the to-do. We just needed to get something up.

The product is still under development; we're taking a risk by announcing our intention ahead of our product, but we've got enough done at this point that product releases should start happening Real Soon Now.

There's also a fourth (and fifth) problem in the mix: advertising (and revenue in general).

Man, Broadersheet's website really blows ours away. :-)

Thanks for your comments. Yes, the design is a bit of an afterthought as that is not my strong point, but I will definitely put more effort into it and/or try to find someone to help.I had a look at Worio and their front-page works very well.

Only had time to take a quick look, but I think the design is too "done by a programmer". Not much consistency bar size for the front page icons. Padding and borders is inconsistent too.

There would have to be some very glowing press or recommendations for me to come across this in the wild and sign up. Then again, I don't buy things often enough to be in your probable target market.

Best of luck though!

Haha thanks for the feedback. I definitely am hearing some echos. I was inspired by apples keynote grid design but then realized maybe for a landing page it’s a bit too chaotic? And your eyes don’t have a linear place to start and have to do some extra work. Definitely thinking ways to mitigate this.

Any suggestions or feedback appreciated! This was my first major foray into doing the design and CSS work, so things may be a little rough there.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you like the site. I'll chat with my designer about alternative header designers. Drawing much more attention to the demo is a great idea. I'll see what I can do :)

Wow, thanks for the details steps. I learnt a lot from your reply.

I got a lot of response in my inbox from designers, all with stellar portfolios! I'm making the fixes and tweaks some have suggested in this thread, and will likely hire a designer in a few weeks after I do some marketing and sales...

Here's the site: http://visaok.in/

Hey, I'd really appreciate it if you were to bring up my design next time you're chatting about new and different designs.

This one is completely new, very simple, and in great need of more eyes

I have a website at http://www.ddprofusion.com

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I am no designer myself. I've redesigned the home page according to your suggestions.
