radar detector detectors ... they are going to eventually happen here. sadly.

Radar-detector-detector-detectors are thing

Radar detectors are legal in most jurisdictions of the US.

This reminds me of radar detectors.

You have no idea, man. Radar detectors these days even have radar detector detector detectors built in.

Great link as it mentions Radar Detector Detectors. This is actively enforced in the US state of Virginia.

Now I wonder what the challenges would be to build a radar detector-detector-detector....

Which is one of very few places radar detectors are against the law in the US.

makes me wonder what's going on with radar detectors these days? Are they just 100% false alarms with all the cars using radar?

You can buy a radar detector on amazon or $50, I'd say probably not many otherwise those would be much more regulated.

Not only are there radar detector detectors, but then there are radar detector detector detectors, and radar detector detector detector detectors. A hilarious arms race.

I doubt that. Radar is extremely easy to detect. Anyone who wants to know about it will know it's there.

Then I suppose the next level is the radar detector detector detector. And after that the radar detector detector detector detector.

It's called the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Good thing we have radar.

It gets better than that: there were radar-detector-detector-detectors [1] which were consumer radar detectors that could detect the police radar-detector-detector and shut down.

It's tagged as [citation needed] on wikipedia, but the source [2] does mention this as a feature of some radar detectors. I like to hope it's true.

I can’t be the only one thinking “so how do you build a radar detector detector detector?”

I think that's what the radar is for.

They have always had radar. It’s not enough for detecting stopped vehicles at high speed though.

This cat-and-mouse game has been going on for a long time, even outside of spycraft.

E.g. radar detectors are illegal in several states, so of course there have been devices sold to law enforcement to allow them to detect these illegal radar detectors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar_detector_detector

That's all probably moot now. I think law enforcement has moved mostly to using lasers, which are much more difficult to detect.

Now we also have radar and hd cameras, so hopefully this time we'll get to the bottom of this.
