its obvious that contrary opinions will be banned first with option to appeal coming after. im sure that will be a totally open and transparent process.
The problem will be selective enforcement, and this will give the authorities a wider spectrum of tools to silence whoever they want.
Sure, legal enforcement might be very low, but imagine expressing an opinion that goes counter to someone powerful, they will now have more alternatives to shut down dissenting voices. This is very worrying.
I feel a whole lot of repression is going to happen as people learn they can’t even be themselves in their personal life without somehow hurting the feelings of someone they haven’t even spoke to who has the power to get them terminated.
Assuming all the best intentions in the world, this will most certainly be abused. Where do they think all of the people they want to silence will go? They will no doubt go to the darker web and concentrate there.
They’ll consort with an inner circle of “industry” accomplices to “address concerns”, keeping everyone out while covering the “we consulted widely” angle. This will get pushed through under cover of darkness with enough of a fig leaf of due process to plausible deny anything other than good intent.
