I'm surprised how many people today, even people my age, don't realize that anyone can edit Wikipedia, or that there's much more valuable information (at least for controversial articles) located in the Talk page.
Whenever articles on Wikipedia's editing process come up, you often see comments about adversarial edit wars, and people giving up. So, I want to offer contrary anecdotes: my experiences editing Wikipedia have been good.
I've only ever written one article, which has gone unchallenged for over two years now, probably because the topic is abstruse and difficult for everyone to understand in the first place (which is why I wrote the article):
That's very good advice, thanks for the reminder. I do edit Wikipedia fairly often, but didn't feel like I had enough time to do a creditable job on this topic this weekend. So consider my HN comment a rough draft of an upcoming Wikipedia edit.
