Gates moved Microsoft back to Washington, his childhood home. Does Bezos open an office in Miami?

Yes, but Bill Gates grew up in and returned to Seattle to build the company up

I remember reading somewhere that Gates had failed to get a business loan. And that his father offered to guarantor him if he agreed to set up business back home in Seattle.

I just posted a reference to his purchase of 0.4 billion dollar boat.

He is retiring. Amazon is outcome of purchase of many many companies just like Microsoft.

Gates is retired and Microsoft is still buying companies even hotels; anything and everything has been bought with the cash acquired from US's money printing machine.

Also, Bill Gates doesn't run Microsoft anymore.

Don't know, but I like Gates better since he stepped down as MS CEO and brought positive change to more unfortunate people's lives. Maybe Bezos would do similar things?

I don't like the press release, it keeps repeating Amazon every sentence. It's a tiring read, much Like Andy Warhol's repeating patterns. That alone pretty much says a lot about the current Jeff Bezos.

Bill Gates hasn’t been CEO for a long time now.

Did Gates/Bezos/Ballmer/Allen/Musk/Page/Brin grow up in mansions?

Bill Gates should come back.

Also part of the deal with him running the place was to have Bill Gates return and spend a third of his time at Microsoft. Bill Gates has changed a lot over the years. I'm really curious how much of this change he (Gates) has played a part in.

When Microsoft was based in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late 70s, Bill Gates bought a Porsche 911 and used to race it in the desert. He was arrested for speeding 3 times. Paul Allen had to bail him out of jail after one midnight escapade.

Does Gates think about himself as future CEO of Berkshire Hathaway?

That's ... unexpected. To leave his own baby to run someone else's company...

Now we know what Bill Gates is up to.

Bill Gates is retired.

> and Bill Gates still works there

That's a good thing, right?

Gates's Microsoft. This is a Bill Gates move all the way.

I already wrote it somewhere else but can you really compare Bezos and Gates? Microsoft wasn't really popular back then (many people here will have hated it) but Gates was never really unpopular as a person. His treatment of workers was also not a reason for his public image.

How sweet. I bet Bill Gates is about to become really interesting after he leaves Microsoft.

They might be talking about the Bill Gates special.

So is Bill Gates' mega-mansion.
