Just a warning, that second link goes to Narconon's site. Narconon is the Church of Scientology's organization for drug treatment. While this particular article seems reasonably factual, do not trust any advice given on that site, or use any phone number found there.

You do know that narconon is a scientology recruitment organization that targets drug addicts, right?

Narconon[1] is a Scientology front. Not to be confused with Narcotics Anonymous

[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcanon

Narconon is a front group for Scientology. It is a running gag that the police department in Bogota, Colombia, Los Angeles, USA or some small town is passing out the ‘Truth About Drugs’ leaflet written by L. Ron Hubbard.

Don’t be a victim.

Do any of the people that came up with this have any relationship with Scientology? I'm completely serious - Scientologists hate psychiatry and psychiatric drugs.

If there's no connection with those nutters, I'm very sorry for having raised the issue at all. But you gotta know these things before you can trust what you're reading.

I'm not saying this is a cult, but the Scientology office in my city has a sign out front advertising the same vague benefits that this website claims to offer.

I have some bad news for you: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology

From the article:

Big Pharma and its partners in establishment psychiatry have smartly used Scientology to defuse criticism of their medications. I honestly believe that if Scientology weren't around, then our society could have a much more rational discussion about our drug-based paradigm of care.

The document you’ve linked to is whacky propaganda from the Church of Scientology.

Last week I posted a section [1] from Robert Whitaker's book Anatomy of an Epidemic about how Scientology was probably used to deflect attention from the ineffectiveness of commonly used drugs.

Doh! Completely forgot about Scientology before posting. Tha ks for the link.

I don't know the teachings of The Way to Happyness, but they were written by L. Ron Hubbard, also known as the founder of the Church of Scientology. Please be careful not to cross your path with this cult. They have a well documented history of fraudulent behaviour. They drop the love bomb https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_bombing to lure people in emotional need.

That said, the book may offer good advice, regardless of its association to Hubbard's Church. I don't believe atsaloli had any ill intent.

Yeah this is Dianetics i.e. Scientology! I'm not supporting them at all, they are a cult, but the the original basis for Scientology was Dianetics and it's related to this.

Scientology?

sigh Scientology is a cult. Silva Method is a health program. Try looking it up before making associations based on your ignorance.

The Church of Scientology

Same thing I'm missing apparently... the page just redirected me to Scientology website (wtf?).

Could someone care to explain us what's this all about?

As someone who had one psychiatrist and two psychologists in his family, and having been myself in (very effective) treatment years ago, every time I read nonsense like that I immediately smell malice, this also because the vast documentation I read about Scientology during the late 90s and early 2K, which for those living under a rock, are among the most prominent enemies of psychology and psychiatry. The above link are eye openers; this at first seems a rather different case from cult scammers, as the guy is rather a far right extremist with the same mindset of antivaxers and Q-anon conspiracy theorists, ie someone who should ask for treatment himself, but at the end of the day it's just another case of someone with mental troubles who hates professionals whose job is to cure those problems.

> They are an ethics organization

That sounds weirdly like Scientology.

Thanks, injidup, for your interest! The site is about making the life of people with such type of illness less stressful as far as I could make it. Some people here agree that the place is very welcome and can be very supportive for people with such desorders. And the pitch is not the primary thing here. I mean the doctors interest is not the main thing here. And I don't know what Scientology exactly is.
