You can activate Vintage mode (vi mode). Isn't 100% the same as vi but for me it does the job :-)

There's viper mode, which enables vi keybindings. A transitional technology.

You don't even have to ever turn it off!

For the ppl complaining about the ESC key, real vi users use a separate racing wheel with haptic feedback to get back to normal mode.

VI screws up in all of this (1) (2) and (3).
