Yeah, it's slowly and steadily coming along. But it seemed at a certain point a few years back that there were people beating the hype drum, and nothing much seems to have come of it: the slow steady growth continues.
I'm personally holding out some hope that it'll eventually live up to its marketing claims - which means that I'm interested in seeing whether or not it has progressed in that direction in the last 3 years.
Sounds like it will probably be a breakout success then. Most things that are wildly successful have "it's not going to work" opposition. Then it's rationalized after the fact when it does.
That's hard to speculate on. It might not have. But at the same time, I'd like to think that if a service is revolutionary/unique enough, it will gradually get some traction.
I mentioned it only based on what I had heard from my own coworkers and such. Most of the data I'm looking up now show it being a moderate success commercially, albeit with declining profits. My point remains, though, as I don't think the majority of the comments made about it at the time of unveiling were predicting "moderate success".
