The biography of Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance goes into more detail for those curious. It's based on hundreds of hours of interviews with Elon and those close to him — including family, friends, co-workers, etc. And Elon wasn't allowed to read it until it was published.
for anyone else wanting to read Elon Musk's story in more depth, I can't recommend "The Engineer" by Erik Nordeus enough. He basically compiled titbits of information from various interviews and articles and reconstructed the timeline of Elon Musk's public life into a great biography.
Elon Musk's biography is no less than a thriller :)
Short Story :
He once took Tesla Model S (not fully developed) to his home from tesla HQ. The next morning, he came back with more 40 changes to be made. And yes, he remembered all those changes after more than 12+ hrs.
Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.
Yes everyone is an Elon fan already, but the book offers a great inside look into how he thinks and how he faced down some incredible challenges. The book really inspired me to think bigger and to optimize for impact.
Elon Musk is clearly the greatest man in my lifetime. What he does and has done for the world is insane. I really admire him for his work and sacrifices.
I really wish him to succeed and if he asked me to donate money I would.
