GDPR applies to (i) people in the EU regardless of where the the company is or (ii) companies in the EU irrespective if the data comes from someone outside the EU

sort by: page size:

GDPR applies to companies in the EU, so any EU company will have to apply it to all people/users.

I have looked around a bit, and apparently GDPR applies to:

- People in the EU

- Any data being processed in the EU, regardless of where the person is located

GDPR applies to any company that handles the data of EU citizens, regardless of whether that company is located in the EU or not.

The GDPR applies to the data of anyone using a service while in the EU, not just to companies that are based in the EU.

AFAIK the GDPR applies to every company, regardless of where it is located, as long said company has customers / users / ... from an EU country

I thought GDPR applies for EU citizens outside of the EU as well?

GDPR applies to any company operating in the EU and storing the data of users, regardless of the citizenship of those users.

Funnily enough, the GDPR applies not just to foreign companies processing the data of people in the EU, but also to companies in the EU processing anyone's data :-D

I'm pretty sure GDPR applies to any companies with dealings in the EU, or at least to that company's dealings which occur within the EU.

Disclaimer: IAANAL

The GDPR applies to everyone, globally, if the data controller is in the EU, whether they are a resident or not.

The GDPR applies to a data subject regarding data about their activities when inside the EU, whether the data controller is in the EU or not.

If both the data subject and the data controller(s) and data processors(s) are outside of the EU, then the GDPR does not apply.

GDPR applies to all companies that provide services to EU residents.

The GDPR applies regardless of where the company is, so long as the requester is an EU resident.

The GDPR doesn't apply to EU citizens outside the EU. It applies to people that are in the EU (be they EU citizens or not).

GDPR applies for EU companies, or companies dealing with customers from the EU.

GDPR is about data, not companies. It applies to all entities regardless of where they are established as long as they're doing business in the EU or processing data of EU citizens.

The GDPR does apply to foreign companies that trade within the EU but does not (because it cannot) apply outside of the EU’s jurisdiction.

The EU claims that even companies not located in the EU are still subject to the GDPR. I don't think the GDPR is applicable in this case tho. It seems likely to pertain to the EU 'right to be forgotten' law(s).

GDPR applies to:

1. All companies domiciled in the EU regardless of where their customers are.

2. All companies serving or monitoring EU residents regardless of where they are domiciled.

Answer to OP:

Yes it does. See above.

The GDPR actually only applies in the EU. You're probably thinking of the CCPA which applies worldwide.
