Wouldn't this lead to an overdose of sodium? (yes I'm ignorant about this subject matter).

I'm pretty sure that consuming any amount of elemental sodium should be discouraged.

What is the point of that? Sodium is vital for your body so he is just risking hyponatremia for no good reason. Plus the body is really good at getting rid of excess sodium.

Sodium if ingested would very quickly kill you if the massive explosions in your mouth didn't hinder the ability to ingest it.

Chloride is also deadly in high enough concentrations (or rather, in non-trace concentrations), but we also use low amounts of it in pool cleaners.

Mix the two and you get salt.

Not sure why you're downvoted, but the amount of sodium is definitely high and is a serious concern.

So that's why too much sodium intake is bad for you. ;)

Sodium isn't toxic, 5 grams of lithium can kill you.

Sodium is not that bad for you unless you have a specific health issue. Our bodies are amazing regulators and can handle sodium just fine.

It's not dangerous at all if there is sufficient salt balance in the diet.

Heck, I drink DI water on a daily basis and have a low sodium diet replaced by potassium salt where possible.

Sodium is a precursor to table salt and it’s highly toxic. Would you consider table salt dangerous?

Also I've read of some studies that less than 1500mg sodium intake for day has increased cardiovascular risks.

What's wrong with sodium? I actually need to consume more of it.

Depends on the salt (Na) content.

Could be, especially depending on how much salt you ingest.

Salt saturated water is also dangerous and lethal to drink. Does that mean that eating a little bit of salt, or any regular portion you'd usually come across in food, would be unsafe and lethal?

That isn't sodium, that is already exploded sodium.

If you were to eat lets say a pound of salt (probably lethal). You probably would have to be rushed to the ER. Your body can only process things so fast and deal with changes so quickly. Obviously, a person would not eat a pound of salt in one sitting. So you body can not dump any excess salt. It can dump excess to a point.

I thought sodium was an ingredient or something wtf

This is a weird example... how terrible would you feel after choking down a tablespoon of straight table salt?

You know SALT is considered bad for you at high doses right?
