Ah. The old “I did so much copyright violation it would be infeasible for everyone I took content from to enforce” defence. I see nothing that could go wrong.
That’s only a temporary stopgap before they convince a court or change the law so that being part of that chain with intent to infringe copyright is enough to get you sued.
They could attempt that and fail miserably. There is little to fear from casual intentional copyright infringement besides a letter that can be thrown in the garbage.
Ive occasionally received those over the last decade and simply throw them out. Accidental infringement is going nowhere. And because it was officially uploaded it, there isn't any infringement at all.
Let them find you. Ask for forgiveness, not permission. It's likely no-one gives a fuck about the copyright any longer, so it's unlikely to have anyone knocking on the door. Whoever owns the IP probably doesn't even know they own it.
I don't think the judge will care how you arrived at the copyright violation, only that you did. But hey, I'd love to see that court case anyhow, maybe I'm wrong.
