I notice that a lot of your comments are declared as absolute truths, often applying to large demographics, without much to back those claims up.
It feels like you've got strong opinions (that's perfectly okay!) and think your view of the world is shared by many / most other people (this, not so much).
It's really not that uncommon of a belief, those who hold it just get shamed a lot by the crowd that parrots the media narrative all the time and keep it amongst ourselves, instead of talking to you about it.
Maybe most people do believe what you do, but majority opinion isn't automatically right opinion. You know what else will kill people? Economic shock.
It's so arrogant to act like an opinion like yours is completely obviously right, and to tell someone to "prepare to feel embarrassed often". You should feel embarrassed.
Well, it is partially also that there are many people with different opinions. You seem to assume that most people here hold all the views expressed by the entire community.
There's a lot of people in the world, I'm sure some said that. I would recommend drawing your own conclusions based on it's current state, rather than focusing too much on what people say.
I think I was a bit harsh in my words, sorry about that. I just see a lot of instances of "most ..." "many people" "some people" etc followed by some generic observation that I don't think always has enough supporting evidence or is just completely subjective.
I was writing to make it clear that it's inappropriate for minority to make such "everybody" claim. And obviously the above reasoning applies perfectly to EVERYBODY holding similar opinions, especially those living in modern democratic countries.
Your argument boils down to "most people agree with me". Can you substantiate that claim? Even if you could, that doesn't make the popular claim right, but your don't even have a proof that most people agree with you, sot you?
Thank you for sharing this perspective. It's easy to assume the extreme but vocal views of a small minority represent the views of the population at large.
You sound pretty certain. Could it be that opinions differ? And that yours is not the majority opinion at the moment? You might want to qualify your statements a little bit...
I think it's a very popular opinion. That's the point. It's a very easy snap judgment to make when you're not in a group that's often discriminated against, and so you haven't put a lot of thought into what it's actually like.
That's the great thing about being in the majority. Most people share your opinion.
I think this might be overstated. It is certainly an opinion with some mindshare; I would hesitate to guess whether it's in the majority or minority, and it's definitely not universal.
Ahh but it is a fact that the opinion is widely, perhaps universally, held. I hope this truth will persuade you to be more collegial and respectful to your fellow community members going forward.
I don't think it's possible to assess a 'general consensus' on almost anything here. There are themes, they recur disproportionately on certain threads, but do most commenters (much less readers) agree on a position, even if it is oft/loudly expressed? Hard to say anything more than 'many' or 'loud' people have an opinion.
While you aren't technically wrong, those opinions are nowhere near the mainstream. The Internet puts a magnifying glass to the most provoking people in the world and makes them seem common.
