If you work in software (not clear from your post) you should be able to easily find a job in the UK. Companies will usually take care of VISA sponsorship.

Otherwise, France now has a new VISA policy for talented engineers and similar profiles ("Passeport Talent"[0]).

Yes, I work in software (industrial control systems and network admin). For now I could work in France while the UK is in the EU, but I would need that visa after it leaves.

say more?

(Also, it looks like it may not in fact be very easy to get a UK visa simply by being a software engineer?)

I'm a front-end engineer with about 4 years experience currently working for a big Co in Europe but looking to relocate to an English speaking country.

How easy/possible is it to find front-end engineering positions in Canada/UK with companies willing to sponsor Visa. I know Canada recently has a Tech visa program.

Hi, how is the scene for software engineers in Paris? I am getting a master degree in Computer Science soon (I hope) and I would love to relocate to Europe, mainly something like Madrid, Paris or London. How hard is to get a job in Paris? How is the payment? Is it good to have a good life or barely to rent a small apt? Thank you.

Great. I'm an immigrant currently living in France but looking for a job in UK. How can I contact you for more details ?

You guys doing anything with visas? I'm a very experienced .NET dev looking to work in the UK.

It's my understanding that all the countries in Europe where salaries for software engineers are high, have rather strict immigration policies.

OP here: Just more information, I'm looking for jobs mostly in Europe (Since I have studied in France) but I require VISA sponsorship.

Which might be a factor in my situation.

Like many other have said Europe is on your doorstep. I run and engineering team in London and most of my recent hires have been people emigrating from countries like Spain, Italy and Poland. For most they are coming from backgrounds similar to yours. Our Office is hugely diverse with staff from all over the world. This is the case with most London startups and the are looking looking for talented engineers to join them.

If you are interested check our or jobs page http://busuu.com/jobs or email me on jobs@busuu.com mentioning HN so I know its you

Good luck with the future you are only getting started!

The issue however is that demand for software engineers in continental europe is much lower than in the uk / london area. Maybe that changed with brexit and more companies relocating to europe, but unless eu countries invest in / stimulate tech companies not much will change.

What are the best ways to get hired in the US as a software engineer from the UK? I’ll be graduating with a masters in CS from a top university in 2023.

Or get a job with one of the FAANG companies in the UK? (e.g. both Google and Facebook have engineering offices there)

Is it really that bad being a software/hardware engineer in Europe? I was thinking of entering via Holland (easiest work rights) and then after a few years try to work in France or Italy where it is almost impossible to fire someone, so I could retire on the job.

Leaving Portugal to UK was the best thing I have done for my career as Software Developer.

In Portugal I could't go any further because I didn't hold computer engineering degree.

In UK, I've reached Lead Developer position, and now Technical Project Manager. By contrast in Portugal nobody would even invite me in for an interview because the degree was a requirement.

Moving abroad hasn't always been easy. But I've found that beside the language everything else is purely down to your performance and personal ambitions.

Regards

I moved from France to Germany already. If you work in software and don't like the direction France is taking, it's a no brainer.

Is Europe different than the US /UK I would not normally consider applying direct to a tech company in the UK as almost 100 % of roles are via a recruiter.

There are plenty of companies out there that hire internationally, especially since you’re in the EU it should be little issue finding one if you’re a competent engineer. Pay is often better that way as well

It's not hard for UK companies to hire outside of the EU either, Tier 2 general and Tier 2 ICT sponsorships are pretty easy to obtain. The cost is different tho, developers from spain can just move to the UK and look for a job. Hiring some one internationally is usually a more complicated process.

what you really need is easier visas for overseas engineers, the EU has a shortage themselves. Right now only few huge companies provide them.
