Recent iPhones have been getting slightly thicker though, afaik the 6+ was the thinnest.

sort by: page size:

Every iPhone since the 6 has been thicker than its predecessor.

iPhones have been getting thicker with every generation since the iPhone 6.

iPhones have been getting thicker since 2014.

Despite complaints about too thin iPhones, I think they've been getting thicker again since around iPhone 6.

Apples newer phones are actually thicker. They stopped the “make it thinner each year” thing.

Most Apple mobile devices actually got thicker recently, including the latest iPhone.

For iPhones, at least, I believe that period was when they were thinnest (the iPhone 6 is the thinnest one, 2014).

All the current iPhone models are thicker than the 6s.

Somewhat ironically, iPhones have only gotten thicker since the abandonment of the headphone jack. The iPhone X/XS, XS Max, and XR are all thicker than the 6/6S.

iPhones have been getting thicker/weightier every year since 6, with the exception in 7.

Your question is flawed.

The thinnest iPhone? The 6.

They’ve been getting progressively thicker since then.

Speaking as someone who's owned every model of iPhone (except the iPhone SE, but that's the same form-factor as a previous model), I actually do appreciate the thinness. Picking up an older phone is kind of weird now since it seems crazy thick. Heck, I don't even use a case on my phone, and a big part is because they make the phone significantly thicker.

Credit due, newer generations of iPhones have been successively thicker with increased battery capacity.

The iPhone X is thicker than previous generation models.

The iPhone has gotten steadily thicker since the iPhone 6, and has generally increased battery size year over year for the equivalent models.

I don't know a single person who has complained about the thickness of the iPhone. It's been as thin as it needs to be for years. I'd almost prefer a thicker phone with better battery life. Quite frankly, I wish Apple would stick its talented hardware engineers on projects other than making things thinner.

For the longest time the iPhones were getting thinner and thinner and hn/reddit complained that they really wanted chunkier iPhones with better batteries.

Then Apple turned the battleship and since 2014 (iPhone 6) we've gotten a thicker phone with improved battery life in every redesign.

I'm pretty happy about this new direction.

I believe the 7 was the slimmest iPhone. The notch phones are noticeably heavier as well.

Did you skip latest iPhones because previous generations are thinner?
