I agree. The only changes I would make to the UX is a larger font by default and make the visited links a different colour. I find it hard to easily see what I visited when looking at the list.

sort by: page size:

Thanks and you are absolutely right about the list links not feeling very clickable. I'll add some hover effect to make it more clear. Thanks for the feedback.

Neat app. Good work.

Things I would change:

(1) The top navigation at the first sight looked like some problem with your markup - <home You may want to change it to something prettier.

(2) There should be some way to directly navigate to other lists from the the list detail page.

(3) The design looks good, but I would play around with the colours a bit more. (Too gray-ish now)

edit: (4) Ability for adding sub-tasks is important.

Looks nice: one thing I'd change right away is the color of visited links. That's HUGE for me on HN, and would encourage me to continue using HM.

Cheers, and nice work!

Thanks! I made a few changes. Let me know if you think if there is a UX improvement.

Very nice! I like your search results and the image display. However, like other posters here, I think that the text is a bit big and the name could use some work. The one thing I think that you're missing in the UI is some familiarity to ground new users - and most importantly a link to see more links that consistently appears on the first screen without needing to scroll. URLs appearing on all links would be better as well.

Just my 2 cents. Keep up the great work!

Thank you, that helped a lot. Here's my version if anyone is interested...

Additional changes: 1) Made the left hand navigation slightly grey to offset so much white. 2) Made the list of articles have less padding (more "compact", less "bloaty" :) ) 3) Removed the "Home", "All Items" and "Explore" links (I never use them and just wanted it clean)

I like the minimalist look of the current site. Adding features like this increases the visual clutter.

For the first link I think it’s pretty bad as-is, but would be much better if you distinguished the new “more” items in some way. Eg different colored text (and make the “more” button match that formatting). That way you don’t need to re-scan every single option to find what’s changed, and keeps the visual shape of the sections of existing text there. I am also baffled by the menu hiding. But I think the other two examples are pretty nice.

This website is unreasonably good. I would only make a few minor fixes:

- Bigger clickable elements on mobile.

- Support for bullet lists

- Slightly easier navigation

- Optional reply notifications

The interface of the website is very fitting ;)

If you're the author, can you change two things: - change font size to default - move navigation to the top, so that "next" button is always in the same spot

We've updated the Nav bar and got rid of the "glowing green" as well as adjusted the layout of links in the footer. Great suggestions, thanks for pointing these out!

I want to preface this with the fact I've been on this site for over 15 years and I do not want to see a "redesign", just some tweaks.

1. The grey self post text is not accessible and hard to read. It needs to be darker. Same is true of user names, etc.

2. HN could improve the UI for mobile users by making clickable elements slightly larger and adding some extra spacing to prevent accidental miss-clicks.

3. Add an inline confirmation step screen when flagging a post – I accidentally flag posts all the time.

4. Change "favourite" to "book mark". Add it to the list view. Add a link to "book marks" in the top bar so they can easily accessed. Sometimes I see something that looks interesting but I don't have time to read. I don't want to click through to the comments just to "favourite" it, then I need to remember to go to my profile and click on "favourites" later. I just want to quickly book mark posts and be able to easily access them later.

Awesome idea!

As unsolicited feedback, I think the UI is a bit complex on search result and booking pages. Could benefit from doing a lot less there I think. But overall it looks great.

I think there are some great improvements here (putting content at the front and center more).

I feel like it takes me a minute to figure out what page I'm on now though, due to less navigational context. Perhaps something like this would help:

Thanks for the feedback, good points. Let me know if there are any design cues that would make the data easier to digest.

Yes, the active tabs are a little weird -- they literally match the URL that you've gone to, and should be more forgiving. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for the detailed feedback. You are right about the extra click, I will try to load at least of page then let users navigate.

I think I will keep adding vertical search engines and improve the UX.

Overall I like this redesign! Some parts I truly enjoy there:

* single layer navigation: it looks busy, but it would improve my life a lot; I find the current one pretty annoying * showing statistics on the main page: this is very useful information for me when I come to evaluate whether I should use the library in my project

* list of commits: again it helps me to see whether the project is still maintained; if the last commit was 5 years ago the project might still be good, but possibly it doesn't work with the new versions of other libraries; also adding tags there is cool!

* icons added to "find/create/upload file" menu, really good idea!

* watching/not watching button

* language names right on the main page. It's very confusing to have to click on the colour bar to see what languages does the project use

And here are some things I'm not sure about:

* colours are more intensive and I feel that my eyes would get tired more easily; I like the current colour palette

* flattening of buttons looks very iOS-ish and I'm not fan of the trend

* there's no separation between columns, for a moment I thought that users avatars belonged to the files column and I didn't know why some files had user next to them and other didn't.

That's a nice experiment and I'd love to see more ideas like this, to understand the way of thinking behind certain design decisions.

On a side, I find it pretty sad that there's so much negativity in this thread. I know people are used to certain designs and don't like changes, but saying "I hate this" is very strong and I don't understand why anyone would have such strong feelings towards other person's blog post.

really appreciate the feedback. I have already started working on it. The search button was ugly (changed now) yes.. I am yet to work out how to show the country filters well. in any case i think it is a good idea to group it into an advanced section

Clicking/double clicking was confusing people. have corrected the behavior now (zooms when you double click) The results appear on the right on mouse over not click. i didn't realize that users may not realize this. One of the problems of being too close to the project is that i loose perspective (of how it will look to a new user)

The thumbnails have been corrected

will love it if you had another look

Really liked what you have shared. UX is not that great though, not sure I am unable to click on stuff.
