As somebody who has lived here for 13 years, let me strongly agree. This is a terrible place and nobody should ever move here. Also, if you have friends living here, ask them to come home.

(Let's see if that helps with the average rents.)

Yep. Been living here for around 12-13 years and it's definitely a mixed bag. Plenty not to like about it, but that can be said for many cities with the sort of history as this one. Not planning to move anytime soon (partly because I love living close to work and partly because it's a relatively affordable city compared to some others in the region. Suburbs aren't for me and I guess on some Sisyphean level, I don't like the idea of just moving because it's got problems. When the only people who don't flee to the 'burbs are those who are unable, you get issues like this city's been seeing for years.

I worked there for 2.5 years before escaping the state finally. Not a place I'd want to live (I commuted a long distance each way instead).

I loved it and couldn’t be happier not living there anymore. Lived there for three years. It is a great place to visit but a terrible place to live.

Yep. It's totally terrible. Possibly even the worst. Don't move there- and if you are there, please leave!
