Why aren't these people out in the streets protesting this? It seems so wrong

How comes there are no ongoing protests? This is appalling.

What are they protesting?

The people are genuinely and deeply upset. Just because they don't go out on the streets in protest, it doesn't mean it's not the case.

This sucks, the country cannot do this. We have to allow for peaceful protests.

They're protesting because they think it wasn't free and fair.

Edit: What's controversial about this? This is literally stating what the protestors think.

This is not the only issue people are protesting.

This refers to people who chose not to protest on the streets. Not sure what you're taking exception to here.

They should've protested outside, not disturbing others.

But that's not why the protest is happening...?

So why haven't the protesters said this is one of their main issues?

People aren’t wondering, they just don’t consider this an acceptable or effective way to protest.

This is a form of protest.

The people “as a whole” don't understand indeed, and this is rather problematic.

Protesting in the street can get quite difficult when the media turn public opinion against you, while the state is sending troops equipped with “non-lethal” weapons.

There is an appropriate time and place for protests, but apparently these protesters weren't able to figure that out.

People aren't protesting in the streets.

okay so this is an unlawful protest that has a detrimental impact on residents, the environment, and local business. Can someone explain to me why this is tolerated and why these people are not simply being arrested?

What it reminds me of is that 2014 standoff with the Bundy family on federal land in the US or farmers in France. Some groups can just do whatever they want apparently.

It is notable that very few seem to have taken this path.

Yet many seem to be protesting, despite it really looking like they have hardly any chance of their protests getting anything they want.

There must be more to the story that I'm not seeing...

How is protesting particular laws wrong? What else can people do? The problem is they seem to protest enforcement of a law rather than the law itself.

That’s not how protests work though, is it?
