Not gonna lie, I would rather just pay for google maps.

And then let that ‘official map’ from Google charge $100/month subscription fee.

I think the vast majority of people would rather look it up on Google Maps for five minutes and save $5.

I would gladly pay monthly to receive Google Maps without ads.

People are complaining about Google Maps in absolute terms. They forget that products are relative. What is the alternative to Google Maps?

I am with you on not being willing to pay anything for the service.

Didn't Google Maps do this already for free ? Why should I abandon those and use this ?

You paid for Google maps - weird

The only google service I rely on is their map. I wish there were an alternative.

Well, that's reason enough for me to prefer Google Maps.

Non-web person here: No idea that Google Maps costs money for anyone, assumed it was ad-supported like anything else.

It's not free. Maybe your privacy is worth nothing -that's up to you to decide- but mine is close to priceless. So to me using Google maps would be hugely expensive.

Google maps has always been free.

Google maps is useful, no doubt. But surely they are monetizing it, not always by presenting what's best for you.

I don't blame google, I'm just saying that Google Maps is an inferior product(And yes, the counter argument here is that it's free).

The maps price gouge is yet another reason I will not use google services for anything but ancillary services.

This is the main thing I hate about google maps. I refuse to do free work for google in return for 'fun'.

Fine, so give me a Google Maps subscription price that does not show me ads, does not save my location history. I pay for YouTube Premium to avoid ads, I would pay for a privacy-preserving and ad-free Google Maps. Maps and navigation is the only reason I have a smartphone. If they can't offer that, I'll buy a feature phone and a Garmin Drive or some other device for nav.

There is no reason Google maps should be an online service.

Google Maps, above a certain threshold, is a paid service for websites. I bet on this.

Honestly, I'd be happy to pay for Google Maps if it meant my recommendations would be free of sponsorship bias. Google Maps is hands-down my favorite app.

But, I'd feel pretty bad if everybody had to pay for Google Maps, since so many people rely on it.
