Boring Co uses old tech to build a tunnel the same way its been built for decades...but smaller...

You mean, the Boring company's tunnels?

How about Boring old tunnel?

Thus The Boring Company and lots of tunnels.

That's all still speculation, isn't it? IIRC this tunnel was built with a boring machine from a competitor.

Yeah they are.. they have a few, their first was just off-the-shelf technology, the second is a hybrid, and their third one is apparently fully designed by Boring Co.:

But the boring machine used was just an off-the shelf machine, same as every other tunnel boring company uses.

The boring company was always hype… we’ve known how to use TBMs to drill tunnels for years

They built a 1.2 mile tunnel in LA and revealed it the other day: https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/boring-company-tunne...

I did more research and still came up blank - I saw a number of headlines talking about "boring company caves in" - but they use it as a metaphor for them abandoning plans to extend the tunnel significantly. Not an actual cave in.

> developed by the logistics startup Pipedream Labs

Great company name.

(Other tunnel-related company with a clever name: The Boring Company.)

It uses a much smaller tunnel.

If I am not mistaken the boring co test tunnels are actually slightly larger in diameter than the London tube tunnels (3.8m vs 3.6m), so you could actually run "standard" trains through those.

Bore a tunnel!

The small size of the The Boring Company's tunnels seems perfect for bicycles.

They just used an off-the-shelf machine from another company. Modern tunnel boring machines are this fast.

I meant the equivalent of boring a very deep and long tunnel (: I should have been more specific.

I want to know about the tunnelling machine. It was boring, but I think it's interesting!

Smaller tunnel is the big one, I think. The seattle tunnel is 57-feet wide. The Boring Company tunnel is 14-feet wide.
