I got several working, albeit, old, oscopes and signal generators from pawn shops for $50 to $100 each. Had to search a while, but they tend not to sell well there, so they eventually get marked down.

In general, patience and luck can eventually get you one for cheap. Unless it's something super rare and sought after, like an apple 1 or voodoo 5 6000, every now and then something like that might pop up at a Goodwill, local flea market, local electronics recycler, maybe even a smaller version of craigslist.

But specifically buying these things from collectors or sellers specialized on old/vintage systems is usually quite expensive.

You can get all sorts of Sony Trinitrons off of sites like Craigslist for free... just turn up and haul them away

I get them from the pawn shop. They'll be a year or two old, but perfectly serviceable. That and the thrift store are great places to pick up TVs, stereo equipment, guitars, tools, etc.

There are a bunch listed on ebay. "Working" may be difficult to verify.

There seem to be a fair number of secondhand ones on eBay.

Ah, they were around 30-50USD on ebay last time I looked; thanks for the tip.

Oh wow, I had no idea they were that advanced. How much do these go for secondhand?

I've sent an assistant around the Hamvention flea market lot looking for a "band widener." Nobody sells them cheap.

Good luck with that. Depending on the condition they go $1500-2000+ on eBay these days.

Well, I just managed to get one on eBay for about $120.

Nothing so exciting I'm afraid; I cruised ebay for a few months and had the good fortune of stumbling upon what appeared to be a decommissioned classroom set from a pilot program in Canada. Nabbed a pair, so I have some spare parts if I need them.

I often see those at flea markets / garage sales, sometimes by the metric ton (OK, exaggerating a bit).

Would like to know where to get those $2 magnetic probes :o

Are those things even for sale anymore? Did a (quick) google search and found one on e-bay and that's about it.

You can get them on eBay for a few hundred dollars.

Any Goodwill or thrift store will have 2 or 3 sitting around for $5.

You can buy them very cheaply off eBay.

That's really neat. In Canada it's probably some 200 bucks plus delivery :/

Where do you hunt these stuffs? Ebay?

Find a camera store near you and ask if they have any old broken junk to sell you. Most do.
