eBay is generally where I go for those kinds of things, as I get granular control over exactly what I'm buying.

sort by: page size:

Ebay is the real long tail of selling anyways. I can almost always find the obscure thing I'm looking for.

Like eBay? or Letgo?

ebay? I've seen it done before.

Garage sales, ebay.

tbf I mostly do it for EBay type stuff

Pounds and euros I'll almost certainly use at some point. Never thought of Ebay. I should probably do an inventory one of these days.

Where else is there a global, highly liquid market for secondhand goods like this?

I’m not asking to be snarky, I just don’t know of any and would love an alternative to eBay.

You can find basically all of that on eBay. The trust problem remains though.

Or ebay

I'm guessing the dollar amounts involved for the sorts of things you mention would be less than I could be bothered with. I pretty much decided that less than $50-$100 was about my floor where I would consider eBay.

I've done it on eBay a couple times

Why not eBay? Usally things are more expensive but for small stuff you pay market price

Craigslist, eBay, johnscheapcopper.com, wherever the hell you're selling the stuff.

Not completely, recently I was in the market for some very specific pull handles for a dresser that i'm building. When I googled it, 2 websites selling very expensive recreations came up, and 1 ebay auction selling a modestly priced antique version, and an etsy store. Actually, the ebay link was quite useful to me to be honest.

I buy and sell on eBay, but I only sell things on it that I'm OK with losing without compensation, which generally means small items of moderate value that I am trying to get rid of to declutter. Low-value items get donated or trashed. Free or high-value items are given away or sold for cash through Craigslist or other in-person means. This has worked out pretty well for me so far.

Buying used can be quite a shitshow though. If there was an alternative to ebay, where the used stuff I'm buying can be certified that they have been properly cleaned, repaired as needed, and have whatever defects transparently labeled, I would love it. Oh, and they won't scam me hopefully. That's the biggest thing. I don't want to get scammed by someone trying to offload their garbage.

Is there a platform to auction things like you describe?

Local ads websites & facebook groups. More likely to get something cheap. Ebay like sites are usually full of traders, that resell them for profit.

Is there an online equivalent that isn’t eBay?
