And the next best, the fully electric Volkswagen ID.R: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRCiGABQupA

sort by: page size:

ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.buzz are fully electric. VW is serious about electric cars, now.

Volkswagen has majorly invested in EVs. One important model Volkswagen has made is the ID.3 . Similar in size to the golf / rabbit. This is an attainable car I'm interested in buying.

Consider buying VOLKSWAGEN group stock instead of TESLA stock... There are electric volkswagens everywhere, and their lineup of electric cars is amazing.

Just saw the new ID4, its a super cool car: https://www.volkswagen.nl/modellen/id4

It looks way better in real life than on the site. With Tesla... These tesla model 3s are everywhere in the Netherlands, and they are a bit minimal in design and expensive.. A bit boring to be honest. But thats good, electrify the world!

I hear VWs make some electric cars. It's founder might be more to your liking.

VW's e-Golf isn't the best EV, but they have one people can buy in the US. It's not vaporware.

Sure, the article only briefly mentioned it, but it's in the picture at the top. I went down a rabbit hole with some links I found at the bottom :)

It debuted at last years Pike's Peak race, It's quickly turned into one of the best electric race cars in the world. It broke the overall record at Pikes Peak, and is the only car the ever reach the top in under 8 minutes. It also recenly set the electric record on the Nürburgring.

The Fully Charged YouTube channel did a great piece of this car:

If you're interested in electric cars then it's well worth a subscribe.

That exists - it's called a VW e-UP(along with its sisters - Seat Mii Electric and Skoda Citigo EV). Super basic, analogue gauges, it has a phone mount instead of an infotainment system....you hop in, turn the key(!) and drive. 160 miles range, can rapid charge, easily fits 4 adults or in our case 2 adults, baby seat, pram and Costco shopping. I love that car more than I love our 400bhp Volvo - it just works, gets us everywhere in our daily life, and costs absolutely nothing to drive. And yes, it has A/C, electric windows, and even heated seats. I'm keeping this car forever, absolutely not interested in any future replacement with VW's ID.1 and such, I know they will be packed with crappy tech that will drive me mad.

Volkswagen is showing it now. They'll release multiple models across multiple brands every year from now on. Here are some upcoming EVs from Volkswagen. Some available now, some available soon, some available in future:

VW just announced a 30.000 euro electric Golf called the I.D 3.

The Taycan, and upcomming electric Porsches are a great sign that Porsche is going fully electric sooner rather than later. If on the premiere performance brands goes fully electric, others will follow.

I want to add some information to your comment that might be interesting to consider, namely Volkswagen's approach (other than a few e-Golfs). Have a look:

Isn't VW now producing 2 fully electric cars at scale based on their new electric platform? I think the ID3 is shipping to customers in Europe already or in the near future.

The Volkswagen ID.4 is an electric SUV and it starts at €34,436 (including EV grants): https://www.volkswagen.ie/en/new-cars/ID4.html

The Skoda Enyaq starts at €38,593: https://www.skoda.ie/models/enyaq-iv/enyaq-iv

The Audi Q4 e-tron starts at €49,550: https://www.audi.ie/ie/web/en/models/q4-e-tron/q4-e-tron.htm...

VW does a lot of joint ventures with competitors; the Ford Explorer EV is essentially an id.4, say.

I'd kind of wonder if VW is more interested in vans here, tho. They seem to have missed the boat on electric vans; it's all Merc/Citroen/Renault in Europe, and Rivian in the US. VW's only electric van is a cargo version of the id Buzz.

I would argue this is more similar to the Polo with the ID.3 being the EV equivalent of the Golf.

How about an electric VW van? https://www.caranddriver.com/news/volkswagen-id-buzz-ev-conc...

Supposedly goes into production in 2022, and I can't imagine they won't kit some kind of camper version. If not, Sportsmobile or someone, and worst case is you build it out yourself. We're seriously thinking about one to replace what will be an old first-year Leaf and a 2005 Scion xB. Combine DogMobile and electric into one vehicle. :-)

There is something in the middle like VW ID Buzz https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_ID._Buzz with the size of a SUV and quite a good range between 400 and 600 km. And without SUV safety issues like limited observability. Not too many Vans like this around, but I think they will gain popularity. Obviously Mercedes Vito will be a good base for EV Van.

The ID.3 still looks a bit too funky compared to regular VW models, but BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are just launching models that look a lot more like their regular lineup:

https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/i4 https://www.caranddriver.com/audi/e-tron https://www.caranddriver.com/mercedes-benz/eqc

And if you want something similar to a Model S, Porsche has got you covered with the Taycan:

https://www.caranddriver.com/porsche/taycan

Traditional carmakers are obviously capable of making electric cars that look like any other of their cars, it's annoying that it took them this long to get on that train...

The ID.3 isn't but the bigger ID.4 will be:

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/volkswagen-id4-electric-s...

It's supposed to get its official reveal in the next month or so.
