Sometimes using Shift+Insert instead of Ctrl+V can allow you to paste into these fields.

Ctrl+shift+v works most places to paste without formatting.

You can use CTRL+Ins to copy and Shift+Ins to paste, too

I use shift+command+v, sometimes I want to paste with formatting

Try Ctrl+Shift+V instead of Ctrl+V for a “plain paste”

I wonder if Shift+Insert works... (is that only a Linux thing?)

Or Rt-Click -> Paste.

Fyi ctrl+shift+v will paste without formatting and work with code blocks

Or Ctrl+Alt+V, which is the shortcut for Paste Special.

In insert mode you can paste with cmd+V on macOS or ctrl+shift+v on other systems, just like anywhere else in the shell.

Does Ctrl+Shift+v (paste without formatting) work?

That is why whenever I paste text now I almost always use Cmd+Shift+V.

Ctrl+shift+v pastes without formatting

Everyone? I use Shift-Insert to paste in Windows. I forget that C-v is "paste" in Windows, and get upset when it pastes instead of scrolls.

What about using Shift+Option+Command+V to paste without formatting? isn't that easier?

Whenever I paste, I use ctrl-shift-v. It solves this problem and a multitude of other pasting problems.

Ctrl+Shift+v pastes from the clipboard while sufficiently removing the formatting for most of my use cases.

Normal paste (paste values) exists but is a bit convoluted: ctrl+v -> ctrl -> v

Doesn't Ctrl+Shift+v already paste without formatting?

Besides CTRL+SHIFT+C/CTRL+SHIFT+V to copy/paste in terminals, there are some other alternative mappings for common functions that I like to use sometimes and which work pretty widely:

  - copy: Ctrl+Insert
  - paste: Shift+Insert
  - next tab: Ctrl+PgDn
  - previous tab: Ctrl+PgUp

ctrl+insert for copy and shift+insert for paste are still a thing in the majority of places in Windows, though I think only the ancients like me use them (people newer to the game being taught ctrl+C & ctrl+V from the start).

Not long ago I even spotted it being usable in an app that blocked ctrl+C/ctrl+V.
