But seriously, repeating a 3 letter tag line to fit in is not "comedy".
I also don't think Joe is very funny, though a lot of his guests/friend circle is (Tom Segura, Christina P, Ari S etc). His strength is in free flowing conversational interviewing, hence why his podcast is leagues more popular than his stand up (relative to the pack).
The JRE show has very little in the realm of comedy, and is more driven by Joe's philosophical views and opinion than any semblance of comicality. If his show was generally a stand up routine I would not have the same critique or hold it to the same level of skepticism.
Sure, but plenty of other people find him entertaining. He's no different in that regard than any number of vulgar comedic acts. The 2nd episode with Joe, Alex and Eddie was some of the best content from JRE.
Yeah, that's about exactly when I stopped listening to him. Listening to him talk shop with other comedians was always entertaining. But "serious" Joe is a whackjob, yes-man, and meat-head.
Joe is "regular people"? He's a sitcom actor. He makes a couple hundred million a year on podcast ad revenue alone. He only presents himself as a "regular" person because that's the demographic he's targeting.
If all comedians are funny, is anything funny? Please. The problem is clearly that they're all only trying to be funny and most of them are not very good at it.
I agree... when you listen to a great comedian, it's not 1 joke/sentence. This article was too much. I still read it all since the overall topic was entertaining but the attempt at humour was overkill.
Delivery is the crux of a lot of comedians. If they have good delivery they can get away with saying a lot of unfunny, even mean repulsive things, and have the audience laugh along with them
