The US has cities, I believe.

Ah yes it's US cities in particular, yeah.

American cities certainly are.

OP asked about cities in the USA. ;-)

In the US almost all residential areas count as cities. For example there are tens of cities in just the Bay Area alone.

Sure, but many cities in the world are not in the US.

Yeah, they're called city-states for a reason.

Obviously my comment was about American cities.

Now do American cities

There are dozens of large cities all across America and hundreds of smaller ones.

Ok, but those US cities are only something like 16% of the US urban population in cities over 100,000 residents.

So, basically in America's biggest cities. Thanks.

Exactly. Look at population density inside those cities. You'll find the US is living in what they call cities, but that they are all far from one another compared to the rest of the world.

Smaller American cities, maybe?

In major cities in the US.

Isn't that called a city?

The US has 50-60 cities with 1+ million people. You may be conflating administrative boundaries with cities.

US is not a homogeneous set of cities

All American cities, and nearly all international cities.

Except that the cities in question are not exclusively American...

The USA has been "urbanizing" itself for decades. More than half the population now lives in cities.
