Its fascinating. I'd never think the most important person in the world would have their tweets hidden. I'm quite impressed with how they did it. Though if I really liked Trump I could feel hard done by.
This is a tough position for Twitter because they now have to fact check practically all of his tweets. Any tweet not checked will be seen either as tacit endorsement by Trump's political opponents or 'undeniable truth' by some portion of their users regardless of validity.
Twitter is where the president lies about US elections and says a lot of his racist things and endorses violence. And Twitter more or less lets it go, so that's not great.
I don't get why he just doesn't have a twitter-like daily news feed on the white house website.
Honestly I hate Trump but I think they've gone a bit too far. They should just filter individual tweets if needed (like they have). It comes across as divisive and heavy handed.
I mean ... they don't. Twitter is really not that big of a deal. Removing his ability to tweet means ... almost nothing. He can still talk to the press, post to other social media, hold press conferences from the white house press room, he has no shortage of ways of getting his message out there.
Youre right. Before twitter took this step I was unable to decide whether to read the president's tweets. Every morning I am forced by twitter to read trumps tweets. Thank goodness this is no longer the case. /s
I've been surprised that Trump has been so toothless in the contest against Twitter. I thought for sure things like this, or when they apply the different labels or restrictions to his tweets, would've set him off and made him do something against Twitter.
Right, but he's not going to see it. But regardless of whether or not Trump wants that noise on his twitter feed, he's stuck with it for as long as it's an official government account.
His tweets get hidden because they contain false claims about the election and thinly-veiled calls for violence, not because they present a conservative viewpoint. We're talking about Trump here, not George Will.
