We're Close, a seed-funded startup (6 people) based in SoMa. We're mainly looking to expand our Python-based data team, but if you have Rails or front-end experience we're happy to chat too. Two of the things we do right now: help founders raise funding by analysing investment behaviour, and figuring out who's likely to be interested in their specific startup -- and which of those investors they already know. We also help companies get acquired by matching them with acquirers who want their skills and products.

Data Engineer
Looking for engineers with solid Python experience to work on one or more of: data API integrations, data modelling, machine learning and classification, NLP, API design, visualisations. We have a bunch of experimental projects we'd like to start investigating as well as some high-priority work on our core data pipeline.
If you are interested, we are looking for data scientists and developers in general from the community to help us built these solutions and provide us with honest feedback. We are also looking at building support for other Data Science roles like a Data Engineer. I would be more than happy to show you what we have and hear your thoughts on the same. Omnistream is looking for Data Engineers. We are a small team making a (fairly) big bang. We are a Singapore-base data company working with retailers in Asia. We ingest truck loads of data everyday and return insights and action to our customers. We actually apply Machine Learning to real world problem.
We need experts in at least one of the following three things:
- Python, for production environment and for Data Science
- Cloud Infrastructure, in particular AWS
- SQL and ETLs
Bonus:
- MS Azure
- Machine Learning / Scientific background
The stuff we do:
- Data Engineering, using Python / R and SQL. We do a lot of data manipulation and we work with large amount of data
- Cloud Infrastructure using AWS and MS Azure
- Business Intelligence, using PowerBI
- Machine learning
The person we're looking for:
- Doesn't have to know all of that
- Need to show they're able to pick up new stuff quickly
- Strong scientific mindset and curiosity
- Need to have some CS background, practical and theoretical. Diplomas don't matter that much.
The technical interview process tests the candidate reasoning skills and overall CS knowledge. Candidates are expected to know a little bit about everything, and master a few technical topics that they will be ask to talk about in detail.
Candidates will also be asked to talk about something of your own choosing, without slides, for 5 to 10 minutes, with the idea of testing communication skills and one’s ability to explain stuff. The candidate should pick something that 1. she is quite passionate about 2. is out of the ordinary. One’s favourite movie doesn't count, how one built a particle detectors during the week-end garage definitely does. Alternatively, something about a previous project that the candidate is particularly proud of.

The team description: The first part will focus on enhancements to core algorithmic, modeling, and optimization components. The second part of the work will focus on the data architecture that brings all the data we collect into the hands of all data consumers, so that we get the right data in the right place feeding the right algorithms in as many cases as possible.
