Elastic has 1800+ distributed employees, should probably be in your list

sort by: page size:

Elastic (NYSE: ESTC) was pretty much a fully distributed team upon IPO. They had offices, but they were more like "coworking cafes", where folks who happened to be in the same geographic area would meet up, or have social celebrations. At least, that's my understanding, tracking the company since its early days. On a recent podcast, Shay Banon described it as a fully distributed team of 2,000+ folks.[1] They IPO'ed in 2018.[2]

I know someone who works at Elastic and it sounds like a really nice workplace (in terms of culture, average competency level across all employees, etc.), and that seems to be reflected in their products.

Elastic is a company I’ve been following from the start when they just had elasticsearch opensource project. Watching this company grow to this point has been inspirational. I really want to meet / talk to the people who made this company. They made open source work.

I’m happy to use their products, filebeat, kibana, elasticsearch, and their cloud offering has been top notch. They got a lot of things right.

Now elasticsearch even supports SQL as a query language.

This is a company that you don’t hear often in the news, but they just kept their focus and shipped the goods.

As you can tell by now I’m a hardcore fan of Elastic.

Elastic-the-company have over 200 million USD in revenue per quarter and its growing. It's not a small company that needs protection.

Some stats:

  - Not just "Remote but in the US"
  - 1,000+ employees
  - 40+ countries
  - Local holidays
  - Co-working Space stipend, if you want it
  - Almost nobody goes to the offices we do have

Elastic has more than 1000 employee, I don't see AWS investing enough human resources to outcompete them on their own software.

Elastic is a 10B company and have the ability to write all the proprietary code they want to compete with Amazon.

Elastic offers solutions for security and observability that are built on a single, open technology stack that can be deployed anywhere. Elastic Security enables security teams to prevent, detect, and respond to attacks with a solution built atop the speed and reliable of the Elastic stack.

The Security External Integration (SEI) team develops security integrations to power the Elastic Security platform. The team builds a world-class ecosystem to support our expanding set of integrations and to scale for large enterprises. We get there by enabling our users to simply integrate with Elastic Security and to do so at scale.

Prefer experience in Go or another statically typed language. Background in cybersecurity nice to have but not a requirement.

The article does say they made 230+ contributions last year to the OSS Elastic is (was?) built on. Not sure how one counts those, but perhaps it helped Elastic as well?

Elastic is almost the exact execution of this article. The majority of their revenue comes from paid add-ons and hosted services.

I work at Elastic, and can honestly say, this is the second company I’ve ever worked for whose sales team is respectable. They’re a bunch of highly technical consultants, and their goal is to solve customer problems even if the solution doesn’t earn Elastic a dime. It’s refreshing.
