What if they were sold as a package deal?

sort by: page size:

its a package deal

They seem to mostly sell that as a package.

I see the package deal being a rental offer so you can still have your rental market.

I would never expect them to do that without vendoring the package. Which mitigates that risk.

The package deals are for multiple years. The package is only cheaper for the first year.

Probably not, because bundling crap is what allows vendors to reduce prices.

No thanks. Avoiding those hypothetical future packages is a better tradeoff.

Just in that there's a package already?

Can package up and sell to enterprises.

Chris Dixon has a great post about this phenomenon:

That's great but what about all the other packages?

there is a company behind the package; i'm sure they'd take your money.

You couldn't get those combo packages without a merger?

Yep, it’s called a “package”. ;-)

Why would you bundle them at all?

They probably want to sell you the highest possible package.

They could do both? Offer the separate parts in an easy-to-use way, and have the bundle re-use those parts.

I agree, but I see them as a patch to get something that could be more cleanly achieved with a transactional packaging system.

Packages can be a win-win, particularly if they are optional.

If you want more than one thing, and paying for both together in a package saves you money, or is a worthwhile convenience for the price, it's a win-win.

If you don't want all the things in a package, and the price is more than you'd pay for the things you want, it's not a win for the consumer.
