The burden isn't on me to list every company that won't be affected by this. The burden is on the person making claim to provide evidence for their claim.

As explained elsewhere: no one is saying companies have any obligation to do any of this

That is irrelevant to the conversation going on here.

> yet not every company is being accused

maybe because attacking them is not worth it?

I don't consider a self-serving assurance from a company representative to be conclusive proof.

I don't think we can say the companies have nothing to do with those policies.

I don't think shaming these companies with a misleading statistic helps solve this issue.

Just because they only went after a subset of companies, doesn't mean that everyone isn't still non-compliant with that mess.

I don’t believe I said it had to be this particular company.

I wasn't criticizing any of the companies I listed.

> Companies don’t owe anyone anything

Maybe they should.

I'm not worried about it for my company, just putting into perspective why other people might be.

Why aren't the rest of the companies on that list issuing false denials if that's the case?

I never said there aren't any companies.

Bingo. Big companies won’t be impacted.

I don't think so, and I have 0 interest in any of these companies -- I did find it notable they were checking a company's claim, on a company blog, but I also found it notable there was 0 mention of how this related to their company

This is not a valid to excuse companies when they do this.

Companies could choose to assess the validity of the claim, they just don't for practical purposes.

No big company right now wants to be perceived as responsible for any of the number of bad things that could result.

That's not what's being discussed. My comment asserts with certainty that a small business will never be punished as leverage against the upstream big corp.

It doesn't matter if all companies does this, it matter how many do.
