Facebook, for one.

tumblr, for some demographics.

Are Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr?

Tumblr seems to be big with the younger age groups, it's more of a facebook compliment though.

Maybe in an ideal world, Tumblr would be better. However Facebook has much higher penetration, so it's the defacto site of choice.

Indeed, tumblr is a good example

* Wordpress

* Tumblr

* Posterous

* Others?

Tumblr & Flickr are both pretty popular with most people I know.

Simplest answer is Tumblr. It's crack to the digital kids these days.

I use tumblr for fun. Wordpress is very good, too.

Agree, FB really does have an edge on this but then again, what Twitter & Tumblr have above FB for me is the discovery of new content / new "friends".

youth early adopter segment in general are using tumblr a lot. In fact the way I see the usage on there is reminiscent to early facebook / myspace. Active sharing, friending and following pre spam, corporate/ad influences.

Tumblr is also extremely popular with the younger generation.

I'd go for tumblr, pinterest, reddit, and twitter as well, I'm sorry to say.

Just out of curiosity are there more options than that? I don't think I'd lump Imgur or Tumblr into either of those categories.

Edit: entertainment. Thought of it on my own...

Each Social network is kind of a tribe, that's how they are all different. Tumblr has successfully maintained its own tribe over the years. Same goes with all platforms including HN.

Erm, it's not distributed though, but it could be. I've been told about Tumblr before, but it has popularity contests (trending topics, high-profile accounts), which I intentionally avoided because it changes the whole thing. You follow your IRL friends and that's it.

It's called "tumblr.com" and it's fairly popular.

The website where you share content based on your interests is called Tumblr. It solves the personas problem too.

Seconding Tumblr. Very fast and easy to get started with.

This would be great for Tumblr. What other choice do they have?
