You just described practically any game engine demo ever made.

Yes, the full demo of this engine is enticing. Thanks.

That demo is eerily beautiful. Honestly the first time I’ve seen photorealistic detail in a game engine.

I've always been excited to see these demos over the years, from childhood until now. Although they may not be what is actually implemented in a real game, Unreal, id, Nvidia, etc. have always managed to spark that feeling of giddy euphoria, a glimpse into the future, with these demos.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the demo scene as a resource for aspiring game developers. Wild stuff.

This is precisely the demo I am thinking.

I'd say the demo itself is incredible. It only became better when I realized it was WebGL

There's clearly some bad compositing taking place in this one demo so yes this isn't a pure demo of their engine's capabilities.

These games all have a demo version.

Horrifically bad software demo becomes horrifically bad performance art.

From what I saw, a lot of the demos have some type of interactivity or other dynamic or generative element to them.

The demo scene falls into this description.

This was super cool, it reminded me of the demoscene and demos. Programming something purely for the fun of its performance.

Thanks for the link, that's the best "demo" for i game I've ever heard/seen.

demo of what exactly?

Any link with more info to that demo? It sounds interesting.

Tech demo? Have you played it?

It's a heck of a "demo". It's about the size of Half Life 2.

The video reminds me of demoscene demos.

ASD's Lifeforce is the new benchmark for demo effectiveness

Wow, pretty good. I haven't followed games and the demoscene in the last few years, so modern graphics always impress me a lot.

My favorite demo is Sonnet by Threestate: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3282

You should watch the mother of all demos on YouTube.
