True, but meteors that burn up on entry can still cause damage -- see the Chelyabinsk meteor last year. It exploded in the atmosphere but still shattered windows and damaged thousands of buildings in the nearby town. Few would have survived if it had happened directly over the town.
People would definitely notice. A 390 foot meteor bursting into many smaller meteors is still going to be a spectacular show (and likely cause some damage.)
It's just not going to be an extinction level event.
Technically meteors are small objects that do not impact the earth (the ones that do are called meteorites), and meteor showers are completely harmless to both people and datacenters.
The other problem with movies showing large meteors is how dim they are. In reality you would be blinded, even lethally burned, before the thing even hit the ground.
