Besides, if the meteor’s big enough, it’ll also take out your customers.

If the meteor is big enough, it doesn't matter where it's going to hit. We're all fucked.

Large meteor strike. Your move.

You do realize that meteor impacts affect more than just the immediate area, right?

Meteor?

Meteor?

A meteor.

Depends on whether you root for a meteor to come and wipe out humanity.

What if it gets hit by a meteorite?

True, but meteors that burn up on entry can still cause damage -- see the Chelyabinsk meteor last year. It exploded in the atmosphere but still shattered windows and damaged thousands of buildings in the nearby town. Few would have survived if it had happened directly over the town.

People would definitely notice. A 390 foot meteor bursting into many smaller meteors is still going to be a spectacular show (and likely cause some damage.)

It's just not going to be an extinction level event.

I pray we never see this in the forecast.

Why? Earth gets hit by large meteors just like Mars does.

The prospect of a meteor hitting a major metropolitan area is terrifying.

What would be the repercussions if a rock like that hit Moscow? NY? Beijing? One can only hope that that doesn't happen.

> or through a meteor hitting in just the right spot.

It's 2020. Don't tempt fate /s

Perhaps it’s a smaller piece of a much larger meteor?

Technically meteors are small objects that do not impact the earth (the ones that do are called meteorites), and meteor showers are completely harmless to both people and datacenters.

The other problem with movies showing large meteors is how dim they are. In reality you would be blinded, even lethally burned, before the thing even hit the ground.

Add one kickass meteor impact to your list of things that could bring us to extinction.
