This is not an accurate account of her actions. The tweet which Greenwald embeds in his article as evidence against her is here https://twitter.com/saeen90_/status/971562600315215872. Watch the video underneath where she explains what her problem was with Professor Massad. In class, Massad referred to the Jenin massacre, a student raised her hand and pointed out the UN had dismissed the claims that the Battle of Jenin was a massacre, the professor kicked her out of class. A left-wing student from Israel asked him a question at a lecture. Massad noticed the student's accent then asked him if he was Israeli then asked him if he served in the IDF. He then demanded the student tell the group how many Palestinians he had killed. This is a little different from getting anyone who "didn't exist on the far-right on Israel/Palestine" fired as you put it. This documents the professor's views on Israel/Palestine[0]. I don't think you can characterise anything other then these views as being far right.
I am really surprised they fired him for a really relatively mild series of tweets. I know some of the Israeli scientists leading the campaign against him also pointed out he tweeted "Fuck Israel" in 2018 [0]. Due to the date, May 15 2018, he is probably referring to IDF slayings the preceding day during Palestinian border protests [1]. Nature also did a factual write up of this guy's firing [2].
I don't think you understand the optics of this. She claims Israel is a terrorist state and essentially signing off that statement as someone working for Wix.
Very hilarious that her husband started this slap-fight just to shut down critics of Israel and now it's the only thing that shows up when you look at his wifes name.
So he’s saying that the media is biased against Israel, and always shows the Palestinian side but never the Israeli side, when literally yesterday (I am aware the piece is seven years old) the building housing foreign media organisations in Palestine was destroyed by Israel?
I’d be curious as to what he’s saying now. Probably the same.
Edit: yup. Apparently the current conflict is being manufactured by the hard left to make likud look bad and to disrupt domestic Israeli politics. Give me a break.
Adalah also defends known Hamas leadership and has absurd amounts of documentation regarding its true, more nefarious purposes. That's why it's met with suspicion and not seen as a champion of civil rights.
I remember there was a piece about universities in the Uk and collaboration with Mossad agents to suppress pro-Palestine student movements. Additionally, if you’ve heard of the “canary list” it’s a website dedicated to dragging students and activists in the mud by associating them with horrible things.
I remember a professor at my university about whom a fake website claiming he sexually harassed a student was created. Of course the claims were false but because he was an advisor for the Palestine club his name was dragged through mud.
Since a previous comment chain with sources has disappeared for some reason, I’ve posted sources for further reading here:
So this is basically an article about a new university who supports Israel and is saying students shouldn't go to Ivy leagues and Stanford because they didn't comdemn Hamas.
I can share some, for Twitter/X at any rate. Employees of Rebel Media (far-right Canadian media org with an agenda) have been caught organizing the posting of old footage of IDF incursions in the West Bank and Gaza dubbed over (poorly) with soundtracks of Arab men laughing to make it look like Palestinian militants were caging Israeli children, knocking down doors, and otherwise being inhumane.
This tweet calls them out on it and has screenshots of the posts in question:
Their Wikipedia page has other misinformation they’ve done in the past, but my edit to include this bout of disinformation was just rolled back, apparently because this behavior was documented and called out by an independent journalist and not published by mainstream media:
Can you imagine that all it took for her to lose her job was "“Freedom for Palestine”.
That's the insanity about this whole thing. The Zionists don't believe Palestine nor the Palestinians deserve a homeland while many Jews believe they do.
Zionism is an incredibly powerful entity that even brought Musk to his knees.
Spoiler: the op backfires and actually increases public outrage over these naked manipulation tactics, resulting in a massive electoral victory for the target.
I feel like the same thing may be happening with BDS. The naked attempts to smear and dox college kids is just shining a light on these shady tactics that right-wing Israel activists have employed for years.
However, Al Jazeera never corrected the story, just took it down, which is just as OP reported: "We can draw the line when they report proven false information and never apologize for reporting so."
Repost as original was removed and I found it to be a good article.
"In a story that has been largely ignored in the Western press, the Israeli news website Ynetnews, one of the largest media outlets in the country, reported that the Israeli government has launched what appears to be a wide-ranging covert campaign to harass and intimidate students, faculty, and administrators into silence."
> Earlier this week, the Harvard Crimson reported a Palestinian student was detained by Customs and Border Protection and sent home to Lebanon. In that instance, the student claims customs officials found posts from people that included political views that opposed the U.S. on his friends' list.
