Thats just one of their datacenters?! Thats huge!

sort by: page size:

Seems like an awfully large datacenter - 1.7mil sq ft? That is more than 2x (closer to 3x) the size that Google/Amazon/Microsoft build.

A new datacenter.

Sounds like a great datacenter :)

Probably a datacenter...

They're already moving into the datacenter as well.

I live really close to their largest data center and only about 500 people work there. It’s 4x larger now than when they initially broke ground and even then it was insanely huge.

Edit.

I just saw the photo for their Nebraska data center, so I guess each of their locations are about the same size and shape.

wait till you see some of their datacenters ;-)

datacenter

Wow, 1 million servers across all of their datacenters. I wish I could visit such an operation just to get a sense of the scale. And how do you exactly manage that much compute/storage capacity? Amazing.

Well I assume it's for the datacenter? Since it's right next to it...

That's amazing. I had no idea data centers used so much!

More datacenters

Didn't they just leave 300+ servers at a datacenter?

It's a massive multi-story datacenter used only by them, specifically designed and built for their passive cooling concept, surrounded by other datacenters used only by them. I would be very surprised if they didn't own the building

On a datacenter the size of the middle of nowhere.

They have their own data centers don't they?

Multiple facilities != "one datacenter"

Here's what their datacenters look like a couple years ago (with Chris DiBona): http://flickr.com/photos/ttrueman/296867981/sizes/l/

That seems to be more of a storage data centre. And if Wikipedia's figure of 60 megawatts is correct, it's well in the ballpark of a datacenter for Google or Facebook.
