I don't really agree with renaming or rebranding. It is like going to the grocery store to buy one of your favorite things, but you suddenly cannot find it anymore. The box changed so you are not sure if it is the same thing as what you use to buy. You had recommended it to you friends under one name, but now when they get around to buying it, they can't find it.

Oh god. I don't think a change of name is what they need, but a change of product.

This is a very lukewarm rebranding. It sounds like the kind of thing that is a preface to a second rebranding in the future. Better to do the whole rebranding now, or leave it alone. But a very difficult decision to make internally to the company losing its old name.

Changing the name of something in attempt to rebrand causes confusion.

I'm shocked.

Please consider rebranding.

I've seen some brands where they changed the design, but they have a plan to retrain people. There will be a callback to the old design on part of the packaging, or they use the old packaging but change the name, but on the top corner write 'same great taste as whatever the old name was'. Maybe they wait a few months or even years to confirm that sales didn't fall before they can fully shed the old branding.

Rebranding to a different name would be a simple solution.

Maybe they should rebrand themselves then.. A new name perhaps? :)

Yeah, but why go there? What's the upside of having a name that is extremely similar to an existing product, if not to confuse the consumer?

Why not just pick a new name now, before the hassles begin?

Renaming the company again?

I don't. A re-branding would feel empty and solve no underlying problems. Their brand also has significant value, despite their struggles.

What they need is a new product.

So every time a product is bought out by a different company they should have to change the name?

Rebranding is a thing.

Quite opposite - call it Meta that their name change does not help their brand.

Interesting. Sounds like a rebranding may be necessary.

It got bought again, though I don't know if the newest buyers plan on changing the name again.

So you're suggesting reusing a brand they've already used in the past except with a totally different meaning? And that will be less confusing?

They're changing the branding ... AGAIN?!

The brand name has clearly taken a hit, otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation.

This company needs to change its name.
