The first thing I noticed: it looks like a HP laptop. So I agree with you.

Not many computers are pretty inside, and, as far as computers go, this one is not near the top of the ugliness scale.

It looks like a mac.

Oh my god, that's a real picture.

When I pulled it up, I figured it was one of those "Here's the kind of thing PC maker build" pictures, where a bunch of irrelevant things are put on because people might want them. It had to be a joke image.

Nope. It's on Amazon[1]. Their picture looks a tad better though. Were there any industrial designers on that project?

That reminds me a lot of the Compaq tablet computers, such as the TC1100[1].

I think this looks a lot like the Apple II-based one:

It's lacking style, IMHO. A PC will never, ever match an Apple II in that ;-)

could be a Dell or Asus, some look like macs

This computer looks like it comes from 90s.

The top image is an excellent choice of image. Perhaps I've become too used to seeing a random visually appealing SVG at the top of articles --- but the top image here shows two laptops forming an obviously shared desktop.

I don't think PCs look like this either.

HP also has another model called "Z2 Mini" which seems to be more graphics oriented:

Not as colorful,

Additionally there were UNIX laptops from NatureTech

and Tadpole

So no, "I mean, the fact that Apple shipped a Unix laptop when all the other 'super-' vendors were unable to pull it off.,, " isn't how history went.

Other vendors were already at it, while Apple was trying to make Copland work and not being so successful with A/UX.

Like I said on Twitter. It's boxy, gray, and x86-based but, at least, it runs Linux and is an SGI.

I want one.

They could have used some plastic to make it prettier...

Here's my newest favorite computer http://museum.mit.edu/150/19

"Looks like a Mac."

Come on now, no it doesn't. Looks like the HP computer remoted into a Mac, maybe.

"HP Elite Slice is like no desktop you’ve ever seen"

Well, except for the Mac Mini, which it pretty much looks like.

Wow, those are the ugliest desktops I have ever seen.
