An acquaintance is currently building the tech part of his and some friends' start-up, entirely on OpenBSD - PHP-based web front end, back end, Postgres-based database, mail server etc.

But what is he using OpenBSD for? That’s what is really interesting.

Author is OpenBSD developer.

Out of curiosity: what do you work with? Asking since I’d like to move to OpenBSD as well, but several tools are not available. For instance, the company I work for relies heavily on Docker. :(

Author is an OpenBSD user/dev.

He mentions it a bit, but openbsd is really a good place to start for multiplatform code. Their focus on security and posix helps a ton.

I'm not adding insight to this thread, but I love the OpenBSD project. Theo and the team are goat engineers and industry advocates.

It looks like this page isn't quite finished yet, but it looks promising! I may want to try OpenBSD one of these days. I have at least one friend who loves it and constantly tells me about how cool it is compared to Linux.

OpenBSD?

OpenBSD?

OpenBSD?

OpenBSD.

OpenBSD.

OpenBSD.

Cool. What does OpenBSD do?

He wrote awhile back about why he chose OpenBSD to get more familiar with Unix during a coding retreat. tl;dr: the offline documentation and quality of the source code were major draws for him working with slow/no internet.

Like OpenBSD, it’s user friendly, but it’s particular about who it’s friends are.

I'm pretty sure he does. I think he's an OpenBSD developer.

An openbsd port is already underway.

Off topic a bit, but anyone here use OpenBSD? I'd be interested in hearing why you use it, and what your experience has been like.
