Apple has become the most arrogant asshole company of all the tech giants. They have forgotten the role that we developers played in making them the largest company in the world. But in their moment of financial victory, they have lost their soul.
Lol Apple. This should shock no one. Company rates about a zero when it comes to longevity of products (my sony laptops that are 13 years old still get updates, ive got newer apple devices than that which can not).
Legit they aren't a tech company they are a e-waste manufacturer that produces junk for landfill. Nerfing products well before they are due for the dump apple keeps the mountains of rubbish stocked high. Remember if they buy apple they apply zero ethics to their tech purchase choices.
Apple has abused their position as a market leader for years. I'll burn karma if it bears repeating, but their unrivaled hostility has kinda destroyed the technology sector.
Every year, it becomes more and more obvious that Apple cares far greater for money and numbers than developers or customers. Any criticism thrown at the company goes into a void, they don't communicate about any issues or feedback, and they continue to take away useful features and replace them with either nothing, or something nobody asked for. I used to really like this company.
Once upon a time, your products were brutally expensive and while your engineering choices were sound in isolation, they were so idiosyncratic that no industry-standard accessories or peripherals were compatible with your hardware.
Note of shame: I once paid $3,000 for an 80MB hard drive with your logo on it.
Developing for your platform was a monumental challenge. Every tool cost money and I remember having to pay actual money to obtain xerographed development notes from your developer connection or whatever it was called.
I even purchased the worst product you ever made, a 1x CD-ROM player that was actually a rebranded Phillips reject. One thing led to another and it wasn't long before your stock cost a few dollars and Sun Microsystems was thinking of buying you. Then everything changed.
I expelled Apple from my life 5 years ago and couldn't be happier. Before that, I'd been using their stuff for longer than you. I was quite close to the company for a time, covering them as a journalist full time. I have 3 Linux boxes and a Windows box. I shit on Apple from great height. Their entire ethos has been lost, and they don't make anything easier. My folks continue to use them, and my father's business life has been nearly ruined by their CONSTANT updating of the OS and ending of support. He's almost 80, he's not going to learn anything new, but he hit one button accidentally when it prompted him, and now he's been updated to god knows what newer-yet-still-unsupported version of their OS and his email client stopped working and his legitimately paid-for iTunes music stopped working. Apple has not only contempt for its users, it has contempt for its developers and fans. It treats them all like morons.
The current state of Apple users is pitiful. Wishing for features that were removed? How can you support a company so much for caring about you so little?
Apple appears to be coming to some sort of head at this point.
This is speaking as someone heavily invested in Apple products and shares.
Their iPhones have reached a peak, where it appears people are no longer willing to pay so much for them. They are too damn expensive, with nothing to justify their costs. I am one of the morons who upgraded to the XS, but only because I needed the 512GB storage. If not for the increased storage needs, I wouldn't have upgraded and I know for a fact there is really no difference after using it for several months. I have no plans on updating to the next one, the first time since iPhone 3.
MacBooks are worse now than they were since 2015. I won't upgrade until they get rid of the TouchBar. I would rather go back to Windows than use that stupid TouchBar.
Apple software is terrible. iTunes is still the worst piece of software that I'm forced to use. The bugs they've had are inexcusable.
Apple is the richest company in the world, and instead of paying their engineers top wages, they are wasting it on stock buybacks. Until their revenues decrease year-over-year they won't change their ways.
To put it bluntly, Apple is extremely, extremely arrogant and I hope they will pay their price in the next few years. It feels like all product lines are either too expensive and/or worse quality than even a few years previous. Many people unhappy or unimpressed with their products, but they don't give a damn.
Apple is the most corrupted IT company ever existed. Look at how they make money, based on marketing and sales. There's not a single innovation in the past 10 years.
It's nice to see Apple getting slammed against their cheeks as well, but in general this just points out how degenerate computer business has become. And that's a lot sadder than Apple's karmic rebound.
Apple’s customer support as a whole is atrocious. Here in the uk their milton keynes apple store is essentially a cesspit of cockiness and upselling rudeness. Filed a complaint against an employee and have yet to receive any feedback two months later. The only apple product in my life is now an iphone, but that will be phased out too. Good riddance. Open source all the way.
