They're both subsidiaries of American companies though.

That won't make much of a difference since both are American companies.

Well it is a subsidiary of an American company...

They’re different companies overseas.

US-centric? They're both US companies.

Yeah but not because they are multi-national corporations.

Those are companies, not nationalities.

They aren't the same legal entity - it is entirely possible that the US parent company is profitable and the UK subsidiary loss making (or indeed vice-versa).

They spoke about US companies in the US, which is understandably different.

They could form a separate company to handle US operations only.

The US company appears to operate largely independently from the international owner.

From the perspective of the US government, there's a minor differentce between US companies and foreign companies. You can spot it.

The company was founded by Americans, too, and throughout its history it's almost always had strong ties to the US.

Yes, but they operate from american llc.

They also operate in UK. Of course if they were "just" two US companies UK can't do anything but these companies also have legal presence in the UK.

Absolutely true. Although I’m assuming some people will take offence to the idea of it being run by an American owned company.

Another foreign company buying out a US company

So only American companies?

They are divesting the US operations though. So basically different owners for US, China and the rest of the world.

They almost certainly have local operating companies that are wholly owned subsidiaries of the US parent company - just having a separate company isn't enough I suspect that separate ownership would also be requried.
