It'll be orders of magnitude cheaper to just make it waterproof and sink it in a lake.

I do wonder what the realistic cost of moving it somewhere would be. Assuming, that you would like to take it out of water and put on a property somewhere. Would it be in hundreds of thousands of dollars? Or more like millions?

Colour me skeptical. Floating a boat on water is a lot more expensive than sticking a steel frame into the ground.

How about transporting it under water?

I wonder how much it costs to build one of those semi-submersibles. I presume they're at least using the hull of a manufactured boat, judging by the pictures.

Why? It's already floating and displacing its own weight in water.

I love your way of thinking. Assuming proper waterproofing, hiding it underwater would be the most unexpected thing you could do. I'm a smart guy and that thought hadn't occurred to me, even if I only dedicated 3 minutes of my time to the process. The majority of people would naturally assume it's on land; to place it in the water automatically ruins the consensus assumption.

So what would it cost to tow it somewhere with a need for fresh water?

I like the idea, but it seems completely impractical. How is this possibly cheaper than boats?

Also, building a floating tube in the water seems a lot harder than an elevated tube on land, because you can't possibly reach the ocean floor for supports.

They'll have to float it first.

I'm not a fan of cars, because they don't perform well in lakes. I'm hoping we're moving toward a world where we use different tools for different tasks. Something engineered to float would be much better, in my opinion.

If you can do it on the water, you can do it cheaper on dry land.

Sink it, even.

Or build another one on the other side. He can afford it.

Yep. Or, perhaps cheaper, a Vostok Amphibia, but the quality control went down over the years, so it might not be as amphibious as the name suggest (I've got a very rusty Amphibia, now).

If you want to sink it.

Well if it goes into the water, tethered or untethered, it likely won’t be usable anymore

Looks pretty impractical, plus there's gonna be a LOT of garbage that winds up in the water.

Yea I don't see how this will work. Just a little bit of sand or water in there and it is a goner.

Or even easier, just submerge it without a person inside and see how deep it can go.

For launches over land, how about landing in a lake instead of the ocean? It'd be easier to find, and salt water is corrosive.
