Yes, it's a small startup where I've worked with the founder before. I think it's get hard to find a gig like this, and it shouldn't be that way.

Working for a startup, so yes.

Yes, I meant working for a startup. Sorry, it's late. :)

I have worked at startups in the past.

I guess I forgot to mention that this job is with yet another startup. Though true, I'd probably be looking at a much narrower scope than running my own gig.

The team there is still small, but the guys at the helm have set up and sold their own companies before and have pretty good contacts and networks from what I hear (hence the opportunities for learning and gaining contacts). So unfortunately, it's not as clear cut as startup-vs-corporate life.

As for my startup, no offence, but I probably won't discuss it here… though hopefully we'll be able to announce something small soon =)

Ever worked at a startup?

Sounds like you need to work for a smaller company. Why don't you look to get hired in a startup?

Have you ever worked at a startup before?

Do you work at a startup?

Working at a Startup

To be honest, I feel you'll be a great asset to any startup with a small team. It's probably hard to find a good match in this economic downturn, but all the best!

OP's not in a startup company; he said he was in a quite desirable software company.

No, but that's kind of misleading because I've worked for ten startups in the past.

No, it's perfectly fine.

If you're doing a startup you're in a competitive environment where you need to do whatever you can to get the best people aboard. People are what make or break startups. You're committed to your startup, not your former employer - rest assured that he if he is any good at what he does he would have done the same thing.

And good luck with your new venture :-)

Or they want to work at a small startup and have the technical skills, but don't necessarily want to manage people, work insane hours, and meet with customers and potential hires instead of building the product.

Don’t worry, pretty clear from this comment you’d be a terrible match for an early stage startup.

Work for a smaller company/startup.

Work for a startup.

Why work for a startup then ?
